Jul, 2026 : DigitalBridge, JEXI Launch Japan Data Center Platform NGI
📅 - DigitalBridge and JEXI have formed Nippon Gateway Infrastructure, a Japan-focused colocation data center company launched with assets bought from NEC in Greater Tokyo and Greater Osaka, giving the partners an operating base in one of Asia's tightest infrastructure markets as enterprise demand, AI workloads and sovereignty concerns keep pushing scarce capacity closer to domestic customers right now.
The new company, NGI, is not starting with a blank map and a financing deck. It begins with real facilities, an anchor customer in NEC, and a mandate to expand across Japan through acquisitions, upgrades to existing sites and selective new builds. That reduces some execution risk. It does not [...][... Check source for end of article ...]
📅 - Schneider Acquires Cognite In $3.1B Industrial AI Deal - Schneider Electric has agreed to buy industrial data software company Cognite for $3.1 billion in cash, a deal that would fold one of the more closely watched industrial AI platforms into AVEVA and deepen Schneider's reach into plant operations, asset management and engineering systems as manufacturers reassess where automation software can actually make money at scale.
The transaction is not just another software tuck-in for an electrical equipment giant with ambitions above the factory floor. It is a statement about where the next industrial software margin may sit: not in dashboards, not in generic copilots, and not in yet another layer of cloud reporting, but in the unglamorous work [...]
📅 - Tata Adds India-Singapore Cable Capacity For AI Traffic - Tata Communications is adding subsea capacity between India and Singapore, acquiring fiber on a Mumbai-Singapore system and joining a Chennai-Singapore consortium expected to be ready in late 2029. The investments extend its Tata Global Network as enterprises, cloud providers and AI infrastructure buyers put more traffic onto one of Asia's most important digital routes globally right now.
The commercial logic is blunt. India wants to be treated as a major digital infrastructure hub, not just a large end-user market. Singapore remains the region's dense cloud, network and enterprise aggregation point, even as power, land and regulatory constraints complicate further growth there. Between [...]
📅 - DE CIX Opens Stockholm AI Exchange For Nordic Cloud Traffic - DE CIX will launch an Internet and Cloud Exchange in Stockholm in September 2026, extending its Nordic footprint into Sweden and positioning the site for AI, cloud and real-time traffic from day one. The exchange, open for orders now, gives enterprises, carriers and cloud providers another local interconnection option in the region's largest colocation market, and beyond.
The new Stockholm exchange adds Sweden to DE CIX's Nordic buildout after launches in Denmark, Norway and Finland. The company began that regional expansion in 2023 with exchanges in Esbjerg, Copenhagen, Kristiansand, Oslo and Helsinki. Stockholm now becomes the missing obvious node. Not small. Not peripheral.

📅 - Vertiv Opens Malaysia Plant as Asia AI Data Center Demand Rises - Vertiv has opened a new manufacturing facility in Johor, Malaysia, adding Asian production capacity for power and cooling systems used in AI, cloud and colocation data centers as operators across Southeast Asia, North Asia, Australia and New Zealand face tighter deployment windows, denser racks and more pressure to prove infrastructure readiness before equipment reaches site.
The move is not subtle. AI infrastructure demand has turned the data center supply chain into a competitive weapon, and Vertiv is putting more production closer to the region where a large share of new capacity is being planned, financed and fought over.
Johor is the important detail. Malaysia, and Johor in [...]
📅 - Dawnguard Launches Cloud Security Platform with New Funds - Dawnguard has launched its cloud security architecture platform, raised $3.3 million more in pre-seed funding and opened a New York office, giving the young company a public test of a difficult proposition: that enterprises can prevent more cloud risk by turning secure design into deployable infrastructure before systems reach production.
The company now says it has raised more than $6.3 million in total. Existing backer BNVT Capital returned for the new financing, joined by Curiosity VC in the Netherlands and eCAPITAL in Germany. Small round by late-stage cybersecurity standards. But the category Dawnguard is trying to enter is not small.
Dawnguard founders: CTO Kim van Lavieren and CEO [...]
📅 - BT and Verizon Form Global Enterprise Connectivity Venture - BT Group and Verizon have agreed to merge their international enterprise units into a 50-50 joint venture serving multinational customers, creating a connectivity business with more than 3,000 clients, operations across over 180 countries and about $4 billion in combined annual revenue, while Verizon will pay BT a $625 million equalization payment.
For the telecoms sector, this is partly about scale. Also exhaustion.
International enterprise connectivity has become a difficult business to run inside operators that are increasingly trying to sharpen domestic priorities, cut complexity and avoid pouring capital into global service operations that do not always produce attractive returns. [...]
