📅 March 3, 2009 - Web hosting provider Clearview Managed Services (cvglobal.com) announced on Tuesday it has opened a new multi-purpose data center in Waco, Texas that is designed as a solution for clients' business continuity and disaster recovery programs.

Nearly a year ago, Clearview announced it opened a new data center facility in Northern Dallas.

The data center offers a recovery solution built in, ensuring that customers experience little or no downtime in the event of an outage.

The Waco Information Technology Gateway converted the former Cold War nuclear fall-out shelter into a data center, which offers exceptional physical security.

Located in central Texas within a 100-mile radius from Dallas, Austin and San Antonio, and within 200 miles from Houston, the data center is well positioned for true data replication between the Waco ITG and clients in those cities.

The location is also easily accessible by car in the event that the nation's airways are disrupted.

"The Waco ITG is a logical fit for business continuity and recovery," says Clearview partner Clay Hill. "Learning lessons from disasters such as 911 and Katrina, we felt compelled to develop data centers that could withstand the physical, virtual and personnel disruptions that nationwide disasters create."

Located on a power grid separate from Texas' major city systems, the Waco ITG will have a significant advantage during potential blackouts and brownouts.

The data center will incorporate dual transformer commercial power feeds and multi-carrier fiber.

Waco ITG features layered security protocol that includes biometrics, smart cards, DVR cameras and 24-hour personnel.

Clearview is also planning to rapidly convert an 80-space parking lot to support mobile work-space recovery vehicles in case employees are displaced from their daily work environments.
