📅 August 19, 2008 - Online service provider Internap (internap.com -> inap.com) will be hosting the National Lampoon's (nationallampoon.com) humor network and ad services on its Managed Server solution, delivering on-demand content to the 18-to-34-year-old demographic through affiliates such as NationalLampoonSplog.com and DrunkUniversity.com.

According to the Tuesday announcement, like a straightman to a comedian, Internap will be setting up National Lampoon's comedy network for maximum effect. The partnership will enable National Lampoon's humor and college lifestyle content to reliably reach millions of unique visitors monthly. Also, Internap promises to increase advertising revenue through an array of vertical ad networks targeted to specific demographics. "We are aggressively expanding our online presence and properties as the top humor destinations on the web and Internap is helping us evolve with their combined expertise in content delivery networks, IP, colocation, managed services and professional services," National Lampoon vice president of corporate development Zach Posner said in a statement. "Thanks to Internap's Managed Servers and exceptional engineering support, we are able to work with a trusted provider for online solutions that enables us to focus on our audience and build our business."

Internap Managed Server is a turn-key solution for media-heavy internet applications that features Dell PowerEdge servers and Windows and Linux operating systems. Internap says its managed servers are housed and monitored in one of its 44, enterprise-quality data centers, optimized for video and live web events.

Over its history, almost spanning four decades, National Lampoon has grown from a magazine publisher to movie production company to online content producer and vertical ad network. Internap said its managed servers provide space for its large video entertainment library and also scalability for its future endevors.

Late last week, National Lampoon rival and website network IAC (iac.com) subsidiary, CollegeHumor (collegehumor.com) selected CDN provider BitGravity (bitgravity.com -> tatacommunications.com -> bigrock.in) to deliver its media, tailored to the lucrative student market.
