📅 January 31, 2002 - WebCentral (webcentral.com.au), an Australian supplier ofInternet solutions for business, and 49.4 per cent owned by ASX listed FTRHoldings, yesterday revealed plans to launch WebCentral Complex. WebCentralComplex is a new business unit focused on providing high availability,security and consulting services to the complex hosting market.

WebCentral Complex will offer solutions-based hosting services outside thepresent range of WebCentral's standardised product lines. These newsolutions include advanced clustering, management of multi-administratoraccess, .NET applications, and outsourced e-business infrastructure design.Complex installations typically cost in the region of AUD$100,000 toAUD$750,000 per year.
WebCentral CEO, Lloyd Ernst said, "The agenda driving IT services is valuefor money, security, and flawless execution. WebCentral Complex will offerlarge and multinational companies specialised e-business infrastructuresolutions. These solutions leverage WebCentral's established expertise,systems and experience in managed hosting."
According to market intelligence firm IDC, local companies are expected tospend nearly AUD$700 million on Web hosting in 2005, up from $106 million in2000. WebCentral expects demand for complex hosting will be substantial,with projected revenues for the business unit valued at an additional AUD$32million by 2005.
In taking its strategy to market, WebCentral Complex will announce newpartnerships with systems integrators, ISVs (independent system vendors) andconsultants, in addition to strengthening alliances with WebCentral partnersMicrosoft, IBM and WorldCom.
WebCentral's infrastructure is based in Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney,Singapore, Hong Kong, Tokyo and Auckland, producing more than 17Tb ofInternet traffic each month and managing in excess of 1,000,000 emailmessages daily.
