Mar 7, 2003 : WebCentral Revenues Up 22 Percent

📅 - Australian Web hosting organization WebCentral (webcentral.com.au) announced on Friday that it had reported a net profit of $609,000 on revenues of $12.8 million for the first half of its 2002-2003 financial year, a 22 percent increase in revenue over the previous half-year.

Revenues increased from $10.5 million at December 31, 2001 to $12.8 million for the same period in the current financial year. EBITDA for the half increased from $1.88 million to $2.65 million as of December 31, 2002.
According to WebCentral CEO Lloyd Ernst, the increase was driven mostly by sales increases in the company's wholesale Web hosting and email services, and the rollout of the company's hosted Exchange service, launched in August of last year.
"This is another excellent financial result for WebCentral," said Ernst. "Our continuing financial stability and our debt-free status distinguish us from many of our competitors. By consistently achieving increases in revenue and profit, we are cementing our position as the leading web hosting company in Australia."
It was also reported this week that WebCentral is preparing to target its 50,000 business customers with the launch of an ADSL service some time in the next two months. The option for ordering ADSL connections would be included in the company's existing Web site administration tools. According to Ernst, the company is also planning to provide VPN services.
