😠 Are you kidding me!? Don't waste your time. HURRY RUN GO ELSEWHERE!! There customer service is a joke...they don't have any. I think one guy runs tech, billing, etc. and I think he's 14. They can't fix anything when it is up and running. They're online submissions don't work...they never answer their phones. What more can I say...?
🗨 Our normal Business Hours are monday - Friday 8AM to 5 PM Central Times. you can call us during those thimes at 1-866-376-5541 if you look at our site there is more then just the phone and support ticket system to get Tech Support. we are good about answering calls and never had a problem with our ticket center and we are good about answering tickets at a quick time. there is more then 1 person at Level 6. the People at level 6 is above the age of 24 with years of experience in this field

😁 i have been at level 6 studios for years and never had any problem i submitted a ticket and they resolved it smoothly. AL did you submit a ticket. if you watch the press news you can see changes in the phone system or you can submit a ticket and ask for them to call. i have 7 sites hosted with them. ikonboard does work on a windows server. if you did not submit a ticket or check the news the only one you can blame is yourself.

📄 Overview
(3*) 🔧 Services: Web HostingDomain Registration📜 About Level 6 Studios
Level 6 Studios, Inc. – The Ambitious Entertainment-Tech Hybrid That Reached for the Stars (Closed 2008)In the heady days of the early 2000s internet boom, where ambition was boundless and the future digital frontier felt limitless, Level 6 Studios (L6S) dared to dream big—and dream across industries. Based in Lake Charles, Louisiana, Level 6 Studios was far more than a traditional web host. It was a bold attempt to fuse onsite entertainment, virtual reality, network infrastructure, and web hosting into a unified digital ecosystem. While it ultimately shuttered in 2008, the vision, scope, and audacity of L6S left behind an enduring impression of what it meant to push boundaries in web-based entertainment and infrastructure.
A Multi-Faceted Digital Dream
At its core, Level 6 Studios was a comprehensive Internet operating and development company, touching nearly every corner of the digital service spectrum. It organized itself into four major divisions:
Onsite Entertainment – A physical IT and VR retail center that served as a testing ground for products and a futuristic consumer tech space.
Network Operations – An internet development and hosting wing that managed a massive portfolio of web properties. L6S had once ranked in the top 300 web properties globally by Jupiter Media Metrix.
Connectivity – A fiber division delivering commercial-grade bandwidth and business connectivity services like DSL, VoIP, and private trunks.
Manufacturing – Focused on building next-generation virtual reality entertainment devices, both for home and commercial applications in a 15,000 sq. ft. facility.
The company was lean yet diverse, employing 140 staff across departments, including web development, software engineering, entertainment, manufacturing, and support. With a cross-functional “team culture,” L6S placed heavy emphasis on overlapping expertise, allowing it to operate with surprising agility across verticals.
Web Hosting with an Entertainment Twist
While many knew Level 6 Studios for its entertainment ventures, its web hosting and infrastructure services were central to its operations. Under the Level 6 Networks brand, L6S provided an impressive portfolio:
Shared and Dedicated Hosting
Collocated Hosting with advanced DDOS protection
VPS with Plesk and Fantastico
Free & Reseller Hosting Packages
Unix Hosting with Ikonboard Forums Preinstalled
ShoutCast Streaming Hosting
24/7 Toll-Free Support and Nightly Backups
Even in a competitive hosting landscape, Level 6 stood out by offering developer-friendly tools, including free remote reboots and integrated DDOS firewalls (FireSlayer™), plus services like form mail, mailing lists, and interactive weather plugins through its NET Resources portal—making it a robust toolkit for webmasters.
Ikonboard and the Interactive Era
Among its more well-known properties was Ikonboard, a customizable, budget-friendly forum software solution. Ikonboard enabled even novice site owners to create interactive communities, tapping into the burgeoning demand for user-generated content before “Web 2.0” became the buzzword of the decade.
This focus on user interactivity extended beyond Ikonboard. Level 6 Resources offered dynamic plug-and-play modules—voting booths, random images, and free-for-all link systems—long before services like WordPress plugins became standard fare. In an era when many websites were still static HTML, L6S gave users tools to build something dynamic.
The L6S Project and Next-Gen Infrastructure
L6S’s flagship infrastructure initiative, the L6S Project, was engineered to provide ultra-redundant connectivity: 24 fiber lines, 72 DS3 capacity, on-site multiplexing, and national access to business DSL, wireless, T1, OC3, and DS3 lines. With plans for nationwide dial-up, collocation, and even VoIP services, Level 6 aimed to control the entire pipeline—from local virtual reality retail experiences to high-bandwidth, enterprise-grade internet access.
This infrastructure was not just for show—backed by Tipping Point security, redundant connections, and managed DNS servers, Level 6’s technical chops were real and often ahead of their time.
Diversification as Strategy… and Challenge
Level 6’s sprawling strategy was both its defining strength and its Achilles’ heel. From entertainment hardware to hosting, from community forums to weather APIs, the company sought to be a “hub of everything” in the emerging online world.
It partnered its core services with various side projects, including:
Web Weather USA – Local weather forecasts with email subscriptions
Level 6 Messenger – Peer-to-peer calling software
Streaming Radio Services – Through ShoutCast support
But by 2007–2008, the dot-com aftershocks, economic recession, and the rise of consolidated cloud services like Amazon AWS and Google Apps began squeezing companies like Level 6, which offered broad but deep stacks of services tailored for niche markets.
Final Curtain Call (Closed 2008)
Level 6 Studios quietly ceased operations in 2008, ending an ambitious chapter of Louisiana-grown tech entrepreneurship. It was a company born from passion, driven by a belief in the convergence of interactive entertainment and digital infrastructure, and nurtured by a culture of hands-on innovation.
In retrospect, Level 6 was perhaps ahead of its time, trying to be a web portal, VR manufacturer, ISP, and developer tools hub all at once. And while the business model proved difficult to scale in a rapidly consolidating industry, it left a blueprint for many of the hybrid tech-service companies that followed in the next decade.
Final Thoughts
Level 6 Studios exemplified the entrepreneurial spirit of the early 2000s internet—brash, multidimensional, and visionary. It took risks others wouldn’t, married hardware and software with human-focused service, and left a lasting impression on the early web. Though the company is no longer active, its impact still echoes in the community-centric, infrastructure-rich approach now being adopted by modern tech startups.

😠 When I was setting up my sites they didnt know their product didnt work on a windows server, Ikonboard. Although they did set my forum up on a linux server and redirected. The deal was fair. $200 for a year and they setup the forum.
After close to 3 months (50 days) my server was down close to 10% of the time. Once for 4 days once for 5 days.
1st time it was down: It took them 4 days to correct the problem and it was their fault. All I got were excuses of why this occured. It was thanksgiving weekend so I gave some leway.
2nd time it was down: Same problem, asked them to fix it. Took some time before I got a response, 1 day if I remember. I got an excuse again and no reason why it went down. 3 days passed with me emailing them for a fix, a reason, anything, 4 days, 5 days. On the 5th day (after Christmas passed) I emailed AGAIN asking to please fix the problem or rebuild the VPS. I will reupload my sites.... no response. I asked to close my account and pro-rate [read more...]
