Afrihost is a long-running South African internet and hosting provider, active since around 2000. Over roughly two decades they have grown from a small hosting-focused business into one of the country’s better-known ISPs, serving a large residential and business client base. Their services are centred on locally hosted infrastructure in South Africa, with a strong emphasis on month-to-month contracts, generous guarantees and a very visible focus on customer service.

On the hosting side, the entry point is classic shared hosting. Both Linux and Windows shared packages are available and aimed at small to medium websites, blogs and business email. Linux plans start with a few gigabytes of storage and scale up to larger "Pro" tiers with more disk space, while traffic is effectively unmetered for normal website use. Clients get multiple MySQL databases, a free domain for the first year on selected TLDs, a visual Website Builder, Softaculous one-click installer and a browser-based Website Control Panel on top of cPanel. Windows hosting focuses on ASP.NET and Microsoft SQL workloads, with similar resource structure and the same local South African hosting advantage for latency-sensitive projects.

Above shared hosting there is a line of cloud hosting based on virtual servers in South African data centres. These cloud packages behave like VPS instances, with dedicated CPU and RAM, SAN-backed storage, root or administrator access, and the ability to host multiple sites on a single server. Clients can choose between more self-managed setups or options where Afrihost handles more of the system administration. This suits busier e-commerce stores, heavier web applications and projects where shared hosting no longer has enough flexibility or power, but a physical dedicated server would be excessive.

For larger or more demanding environments Afrihost offers dedicated servers: full physical machines located in the same local data centres, with configurable specifications, 24/7 monitoring and optional management. These work well for high-traffic sites, bespoke applications and environments where isolation and hardware control matter. The server range is complemented by reseller hosting and colocation. Reseller hosting runs on cPanel/WHM infrastructure with a fixed amount of disk space, unmetered traffic, WebHost Manager access and optional WHMCS integration, giving agencies and small hosting businesses the tools to sell hosting under their own brand without operating their own data centre.

Colocation is available through rack hosting packages. Clients place their own physical servers in Afrihost’s racks and purchase power and bandwidth in three main tiers: a smaller "MyServer" footprint, a half rack and a full rack. Each tier includes a substantial amount of traffic with the option to buy additional bandwidth per GB. This setup allows complete hardware and software control while still relying on Afrihost’s network, power and cooling environment.

Alongside these core hosting and infrastructure services Afrihost also offers Domain Email plans, domain registration and the Website Builder. Domain Email packages give a fixed number of mailboxes (from small bundles up to larger business packages) with webmail, POP3/IMAP, spam and virus filtering and an online control panel. This is ideal for small offices that only need professional email on their own domain, without full web hosting. The Website Builder is included with Linux shared hosting and offers a library of responsive templates and drag-and-drop widgets, so a non-technical user can create a brochure-style site on top of their hosting with minimal effort.

Afrihost’s role as a broader ISP (fibre, fixed-LTE, mobile data, VoIP) also matters for hosting clients. A large customer base and established operations translate into a mature support structure, strong local network presence and a sense that hosting is part of a larger, well-resourced platform rather than a small standalone provider.
