📅 - New York-based Web hosting provider Thinkhost (thinkhost.com👉 Total Reviews: 18 🙌 Average Rating: 1 / 10 👍 Good Reviews: 0 👎 Bad Reviews: 18 👈 Official Responses: 0) announced today it is offering a combined spam filtering and anti-virus solution free of charge for all Web hosting customers.
"When we started ThinkHost in 1999, spam and viruses were nowhere near the problem they are today," said Vladislav Davidzon, CEO of Thinkhost. "After watching the global havoc wreaked by the recent SoBig virus, monitoring the effects on our equipment, and more importantly, our customers - we decided to tackle the issue head-on." According to Thinkhost, the responsiblity for spam and virus protection is shifting, with 50 to 77 percent of Internet users now expecting their ISP or hosting service to assume the responsibility of filtering e-mail for spam and viruses. The company has been very impressed by the accuracy with which e-mail is being processed by the server-side solution, said Davidzon. "There are very few false positives and even then, the mail isn't deleted. E-mail detected as spam still goes to the client, but it's tagged as possible spam," said Davidzon. "Because of the special tag, it's simple for our clients to configure their e-mail software to automatically redirect these messages to another folder for review later on. In the case of viruses, the client still receives the e-mail, but the attachment is stripped off; greatly decreasing bandwidth usage and time spent in downloading." Thinkhost also said the solution is capable of helping hosting customers reduce costs.
