Nov, 2003 : Vulnerabilities Found in Windows Server 2003
📅 - Software giant Microsoft (microsoft.com) released five new security patches on Tuesday, three of which were given the company's highest alert rating of "critical."
One of the critical vulnerabilities affects the Windows Server 2003 platform as well as its 64-bit edition. The vulnerability, according to Microsoft Security Bulletin MS03-048, stems from a flaw in the Internet Explorer browser that could allow an attacker to compromise those systems with the browser installed. Launched in April, the Windows Server 2003 operating system was touted as Microsoft's most secure operating system ever. Since that time, several vulnerabilities affecting the platform have been discovered. The patches were issued as part of Microsoft's monthly security update. The company moved to a monthly patching policy in October in order to make it easier for administrators to plan their patching schedules. Microsoft previously updated patches on a weekly basis.
