Nov, 2003 : EarthLink Launches Virus Scanning Solution

📅 November 14, 2003 - Atlanta-based Internet service and Web hosting provider EarthLink (earthlink.net ) announced on Wednesday that it had launched Virus Blocker, a server-side anti-virus tool that helps EarthLink email account users prevent the downloading of viruses, worms and other malicious code sent through email messages and attachments.

The company said Virus Blocker, by residing on its servers, identifies, repairs and deletes unwanted files before they ever reach the customer's inbox.
"EarthLink provides a unique and personal Internet experience that eliminates many of the annoyances and dangers found on the Internet today," said Rob Kaiser, vice president of narrowband marketing at EarthLink. "Virus Blocker helps to remove the threat of viruses corrupting a user's computer when corresponding via e-mail. Combined with Pop-Up Blocker, spamBlocker and Spyware Blocker, EarthLink delivers the most powerful ISP-offered protection platform available to consumers today."
Virus Blocker, developed by Symantec Corporation (symantec.com), is free-of-charge and available to all EarthLink subscribers.
