Netcraft also published its list of top hosting providers, compiled on the basis of growth in total hostnames for the month of November. According to the results, which are based in Netcraft's hosting provider switching analysis, 1&1 Internet and Go Daddy again made the largest gains in total host names last month, adding a net total of 115,999 and 54,127 hostnames. Yahoo, Sprint and SBC Communications took positions 3-5, while Strato AG, enom.com, Host Europe and Hostway occupied positions 6-9. The remaining hostnames switched from other providers. Go Daddy accounted for 683, and EV1Servers, Network Solutions, register.com and enom.com accounted for 171, 150, and 106 hostnames, respectively.
1&1 entered the US market in October and is offering three years of free Web hosting.
