Dec, 2003 : Sage Research: Service Provider Optimism Up
📅 - Sage Research (sageresearch.com) said yesterday that service provider optimism continued its six-month rise, according to its November service provider confidence index, a bi-monthly report that measures and analyzes the mood of telecommunications service providers. The research and analysis firm said that all of the sub-indices for the expectations index, except for one, increased while the majority of the sub-indices for the current conditions index fell last month.
"Both main indices are much higher than they were at this time last year," said Chris Neal, a Sage research director. "This is despite the fact that the upward streak of the current conditions Index has come to an end. Employment is the silver lining there, but with the caveat that the rise in current jobs conditions is extremely modest."
Sage Research began compiling the bi-monthly SPCI in January 2002. The report includes responses from 100 service provider professionals representing incumbent carriers, long distance carriers, Web hosting providers, Internet service providers, application service providers, wireless operators, network service providers, and cable companies.
Survey respondents were asked questions on topics such as spending on capital equipment, spending on product and service development, revenues, employment, NASDAQ as in indicator of investor confidence, industry conditions and overall industry perceptions.
