Dec, 2003 : C&W Announces Third Quarter Contract Wins

📅 - Cable & Wireless America (cwusa.com) said on Monday that it continues to see strong demand for its Web hosting and IP services as it announced more than 800 new and expanded customer service orders in the third quarter.

"Our customers and prospects are both loyal and savvy," said Clint Heiden, executive vice president of sales for Cable & Wireless America (CWA). "The steady stream of new service orders during times of uncertainty and change is a testament to the strength of our products and technology. It also says a lot about customer confidence in our ability to execute a successful sale that is in their best interest."
Cable & Wireless America first announced its intentions to exit the US hosting market in June.
A buyer for the beleaguered carrier was found earlier this month. Cable & Wireless America announced on December 8, 2003, that it had entered into an agreement to sell substantially all of its assets to Gores Technology Group for $125 million. CWA said that under the terms of the agreement and in order to facilitate the transaction, it would file chapter 11 bankruptcy.
Heiden said the new service orders come from approximately 450 companies and are expected to generate more than $30 million in new revenue over the terms of the contracts. According to Heiden, the contracts vary in length from 1 to 3 years.
CWA said customers include American Greetings, Covisint, Kelley Blue Book, Merrill Lynch, MetLife and Priceline.com.
Heiden said Cable & Wireless America continues to work toward its business goals and remains ahead of target on data center consolidation, customer churn reduction, and other cost reductions.
