Jan, 2004 : NaviSite Study Predicts Spending Increases
📅 - A new market research survey on IT spending plans shows that 2004 will be the year for small and mid-sized businesses to increase spending on Web hosting, storage and disaster recovery.
The survey, co-sponsored by NaviSite Inc. and market intelligence firm Schaff Inc., shows 23 percent of respondents plan on an average of a 60 percent increase in spending on Web hosting.
For the study, IT executives were interviewed to gauge their demand and spending plans in the new year on technology products and services, ranging from managed messaging, disaster recovery and backup, virtual private networks and Web hosting.
The survey also considered SMBs' motivation and buying behavior, along with their preferred channels and attitudes towards new technology. This revealed that 50 percent buy online whenever they can, and that 77 per cent view a company's Web site as important or extremely important when compared to traditional sales and marketing approaches.
"It is gratifying to see that the results of this survey confirm what we have believed all along; that small to mid-sized companies recognize the importance of their Web presence and are committing the resources to be sure they remain strong in a competitive market environment," said NaviSite vice-president of marketing Joel Whitman. NaviSite provides outsourced application, software delivery, hosting and messaging services to over 850 mid-sized companies.
