📅 - Blazent (blazent.com) announced on Tuesday that it has joined the data center markup language (DCML) organization, an independent corporation formed to create an open, freely licensed data center language specification.
DCML has received widespread recognition for helping realize the goal of automation and utility computing, a service model that makes computing resources available to the user as needed, charging for specific usage as opposed to a fixed flate rate. DCML is also viewed as a necessary precursor for data center management.
Blazent said that by joining the many other companies in the organization, it can help drive efforts to reduce the complexity and cost associated with managing the systems that operate within data centers.
"Reducing the operational complexity of the data center and the associated financial inefficiency is a critical issue facing our customers," said Lerry Wilson, vice presdient of strategic alliances at Blazent. "We are committed to the DCML customer-centric focus of establishing an industry standard to enable any IT organization to benefit from lower costs, increased agility and improved service levels."
The DCML initially launched in October, counting 25 major technology companies as members.
