📅 - The first annual Host Industry Summit (webhostingsummit.com) will take place in Atlanta, Georgia from June 18 to 20, 2004.
The event will feature a data center tour, a tour of Atlanta, an open forum discussion and presentations by various guest speakers. Expected participants include Web hosting company executives, system administrators, computer vendors, online forum administrators and sales and marketing representatives. "The mission of the summit is to unite Web hosting companies amongst each other to bring fellowship and networking to better enhance business relationships both online and offline. Show inspiration, share techniques and ideas in order to keep this industry in its professional state," the summit's organizers said in a release. The summit's coordinator, Kyle Rosenbaum Jr., said the summit has begun assembling a planning committee, which it expects to complete by the beginning of March.

📅 - MyDoom Continues to Exploit Backdoor - The MyDoom virus is programmed to stop spreading today, but machines infected by the virus remain susceptible, warns the mi2g Intelligence Unit, a digital risk firm. According to mi2g, the vulnerability exists because of a backdoor opened by the origianl variant of the virus that has no time limit and stays open until the infected machine is cleaned.
