May 5, 2004 : Sasser Worm Slows Net, Keynote Says

📅 - According to Keynote's (keynote.com) Network Perspective measurement computers, there has been a steady decline in Internet performance over the last few days that may be attributed to the Sasser worm. Sasser, which first appeared last Friday, has already appeared in four variants: Sasser.a, Sasser.b, Sasser.c, Sasser.c.

Keynote said its measurements, taken at top-level domain servers and Internet exchange points, show that packet loss has steadily increased and many critical nodes have been unreachable by Keynote agents.
The Keynote Internet Performance Average is also suffering performance degradation with packet loss increases and a decrease in the number of normally reachable Internet targets, the company said. Keynote's Internet Performance Average is a 'measurement average' representing thousands of normally reachable Internet targets including routers, DNS servers, mail servers, the WWW, ftp servers, news servers, game servers and search engines from global Keynote agents.
Keynote Systems is a provider of Web performance management and measurement services.
