📅 - Software giant Microsoft (microsoft.com) announced on Monday that it has released two new Web Part toolkits and a Web Services toolkit for Microsoft SharePoint products and technologies.
The tools, available at GotDotNet.com for no charge, allow developers and system integrators to connect systems from multiple vendors using XML Web services standards. The two Web Part toolkits facilitate the integration of Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal Server 2003 and Windows SharePoint Services sites with information line-of-business applications from SAP and other vendors. The Web Services toolkit is designed to help developers build Remote Portlets specification-compliant Web services, making it easier for businesses to leverage SharePoint application functionality and content within third-party portals. Microsoft said the new tools confirm its commitment to XML Web Services.

📅 - Banner Ad Networks Used for Attacks - Several smaller banner ad networks have been used to inject malicious code into Web sites, according to research and analysis firm Netcraft (netcraft.com). In each of the cases, code for the banners serve as the trigger for a string of exploit scripts that trick Internet Explorer into downloading malware or spyware. Because of their ability to place code on hundreds of outside sites, banner networks have become a vehicle for malware and virus distribution, the report said.
