Aug 11, 2004 : AT&T Provides AAA Web Hosting

📅 - The American Automobile Association (aaa.com), North America's largest motoring and leisure travel organization, has awarded AT&T (att.com) a $21 million networking contract, which will provide AAA with local and long-distance voice, data, hosting and remote-access Internet services.

AAA's high demand round-the-clock emergency roadside service is supported by AT&T Toll-Free Service, which includes features that allow the organization to route calls to an appropriate call center based on the time of day, day of the week and location of the member's club. AAA handles more than 2 million toll-free emergency roadside calls a month.
AT&T currently hosts AAA's consumer Web site, which averages 120,000 visits a day, from data centers in Florida and Illinois. By hosting from two IDCs, AT&T can moderate traffic to the Web site on its Internet backbone network, allowing for efficient consumer access and fast page loads.
The route diversity also supports AAA's business continuity and disaster recovery plans. AT&T owns and operates 22 IDCs around the world and is opening additional centers this year in Paris, Tokyo and London. AT&T provides its high-speed frame relay asynchronous transfer mode services as the backbone for ClubLink, AAA's proprietary data network that connects the association's national office with affiliate clubs nationwide.
