Aug 10, 2004 : MCI Introduces Virtual Peering Solution

mci.com logo📅 - MCI (mci.com), announced on Tuesday it has introduced a new way for Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and other large bandwidth users to interconnect networks at any of MCI's MAE switching facilities nationwide.

The new MAE Extended Services plan allows businesses to build virtual private connections to exchange traffic over MCI's global IP network minus the regional or physical barriers normally associated with peering. This allows for an effective network utilization and expanded geographic reach for its customers.
Contrary to traditional peering methods, where companies share the same geographic location, MCI allows organizations to virtually "connect" across the three major US regions covered by MAE East, MAE Central, and MAE West.
This new expanded peering network allows customers to choose and select whomever they want to interconnect with, allowing them to adjust in real-time with shifting business requirements. The service is ideal for ISPs, content providers, cable operators, government, educational and business customers, allowing organizations to link together distributed networks or enterprise locations using these services.
