📅 - Internet service and Web hosting provider Digicon Communications (digiconcommunications.com) said on Tuesday that its deployment of the CanIt-Pro anti-spam and anti-virus solution from Roaring Penguin Software (roaringpenguin.com) has helped it improve the overall performance of its email services.
"Last month, 70 percent of incoming mail to our servers was spam. The impact on our small business clients was significant, from being scammed to receiving inappropriate email or viruses that hindered their ability to do business," says Chris Gauch, systems administrator at Digicon. "We thoroughly reviewed a number of commercial anti-spam solutions and found CanIt-PRO to be the best overall for ISPs."
Digicon said the deployment of CanIt-Pro has allowed it to reduce the amount of time it spends managing problem email.
"Our IT staff used to spend upwards of three hours each day managing the problem, but it never took spammers long to bypass our efforts," says Gauch. "With CanIt-Pro we no longer have to manually tweak our mail server, and we can hand-off spam policy control to our clients rather than imposing system-wide policies that may not sit well with some businesses."
Prior to its deployment of CanIt-Pro, Digicon used an in-house open source solution that included Roaring Penguin's MIMEDefang mail filtering product.
