📅 - Online auctioneer eBay (ebay.com) may be expanding its Denver, Colorado-based data center as part of its efforts to improve its geographic diversity, reports say.
Hani Durzy, spokesperson for the San Jose-based company, said in a report that eBay wants to add data services to four of its data centers and is considering expanding its Denver and Austin, Texas facilities. According to Durzy, eBay has a small facility in Denver, but would like to build or purchase a new building that could accommodate its expansion. In recent months, Ebay has reportedly been busy with efforts to improve to improve its network infrastructure and expand operations in several cities across the US.

The 23,000 square foot facility went online this week and is providing services for its main customer IBM, the report said. The two companies are also reportedly cooperating for data protection. According to the report, the data center delivers tier-1 connectivity, fully redundant power, environmental control systems and has the capacity to accommodate a growing customer base. VeriCenter's original data center in the Houston area opened in 2000.
📅 - VIA NET.WORKS Receives Nasdaq Extension - Web hosting provider VIA NET.WORKS (vianetworks.com) announced this week that it has been granted a second 180-day extension to regain compliance with Nasdaq's minimum bid price requirement. In June, Nasdaq informed VIA NET.WORKS that it had failed to meet listing requirement because its stock had not traded above $1.00 for 30 consecutive business days. The company was then granted a first 180-day extension. It stipulated that VIA NET.WORKS's share price had to trade at or above $1.00 for 10 consecutive business days prior to the extension's expiry date in December. The second extension sets June 10, 2005 as the new deadline for the company's share price to trade

The worm reportedly queries Google for Web sites running vulnerable versions of phpBB, a software for creating Internet forums using the PHP scripting language.
