Jul, 2005 : Brinkster Introduces Linux Hosting Plans

📅 July 12, 2005 - Web hosting provider Brinkster (brinkster.com ) announced on Tuesday that it would introduce Linux-based hosting after six years as a Windows-only host.
The new Linux packages include a $4.95 per month personal plan, a $7.95 professional plan and a $17.95 developer plan. Each hosting package, if prepaid for an entire year, comes with a free domain name. "Virtually everything you need is included in each hosting package," says Jared Stauffer, president and CEO of Brinkster. "An example is our included shared SSL support in our $7.95 a month Professional Plan." Brinkster says it plans to bring its developer-focused approach to the Linux community and will introduce a Linux version of its education hosting plan in the third quarter. The Educational Plan is a free hosting account that provides customers of varying experience with environments in which to test and practice their skills in HTML and Microsoft's ASP and ASP.NET.
