Nov 4, 2005 : Armstrong Wins Cybersquatting Case
📅 - Tour de France champion Lance Armstrong won control over two domains bearing the name of his trademarked LIVESTRONG bracelets, according to reports. The bracelets are sold by his non-profit charitable foundation to raise awareness and money for cancer research. The UN's World Intellectual Property Organization handed down the decision earlier this week, ordering the transfer of livestrongbracelets.net and talk-livestrong.com back to Armstrong. He alleged that the domain registrations infringed on his trademarks and were done in bad faith. Chris Angeles of West Covina, California registered the domains and reportedly began selling the bracelets for profit. According to reports, several other celebrities have successfully won legal cases against cybersquatters. They include Julia Roberts, Morgan Freeman, Pamela Anderson, Madonna, Carmen Electra and Pierce Brosnan.
