📅 - Custom fiber and access solutions provider AboveNet (above.net) announced on Tuesday that it had introduced dcXchange, a data center to data center service providing high-performance connections over a dedicated DWDM core network between locations in the Washington DC and Northern Virginia market.
AboveNet says dcXchange is pre-provisioned, offering DWDM, SONET and Gig E connections to enterprise, carrier and indirect sales customers.
The service is supported by AboveNet's Global Network Management Center, and provides the flexibility to support a range of applications for media and entertainment, wireless backhaul, financial and banking industries as well as large government bandwidth requirements.
"With the cost of collocation facilities increasing sharply, dcXchange delivers virtual colocation to carriers by connecting key sites for seamless integration," says John Deering, director of carrier sales for AboveNet. "The virtualization of scarce colocation space across the metro area is a key feature of our offering."
