📅 - Tuesday StackPath, the security-as-a-service startup, announced the general release of its global security platform to the public, as well as launching its Secure Content Delivery Network.
StackPath's founder Lance Crosby turned up the heat on his company over the summer, developing a platform with built in security, rather than “bolted on” after completion, according to Crosby.

📅 - IANA Transition Moves Ahead According to Plan Despite Opposition - Over the weekend, Ted Cruz and other Republicans rallied against the transfer of Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) over to ICANN, but ultimately, the transfer will move ahead according to plan.
The U.S. Department of Commerce and ICANN were bound by a contract that expired over the weekend, turning over IANA functions and duties to ICANN in the process. Republicans like Cruz opposed the transition vehemently, but were unable to stop the transfer from moving ahead.

📅 - Is the Big Data Boom Over? - Is the big data era over? Many companies are beginning to wonder. Investments in big data continue to rise, but some companies are cutting back on projects. When businesses began wading through the vast amounts of data they had collected, many had very high hopes to find hidden trends, but for many, that goal has remained difficult to obtain.

📅 - VMware Government Cloud Business Sold to QTS - VMware recently announced an agreement with QTS Realty Trust for their government cloud business. This deal comes on the heels of VMware announcing a shift in cloud strategy. The company is majority-owned by Dell.
QTS Realty Trust is one of the largest data center providers in the United States. This acquisition means they will be able to sell services under their own brands instead of using VMware. Carpathia Hosting was acquired by QTS last year and has been providing services to government clients for VMware.
