📅 - Friday, a majority stake of AVG Technologies was purchased by Avast Software. Today, the two companies began acting as a single entity.

With the two companies' user bases combined, the new company now has more than 400 million users worldwide, according to Vince Steckler, CEO of both companies.

“The SMB market is expected to grow moderately in the coming years, and the space is crowded,” Glenn Taylor Chief of Staff and GM of SMB, Avast recently said in an interview with The VAR Guy. “We believe the increased scale gained from these two companies gives an unmatched global footprint, and will enable us to exceed the market growth expectations. Avast is commited to being successful in the SMB market.”
