IANA Transition Moves Ahead According to Plan Despite Opposition


📅 - Over the weekend, Ted Cruz and other Republicans rallied against the transfer of Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) over to ICANN, but ultimately, the transfer will move ahead according to plan.

The U.S. Department of Commerce and ICANN were bound by a contract that expired over the weekend, turning over IANA functions and duties to ICANN in the process. Republicans like Cruz opposed the transition vehemently, but were unable to stop the transfer from moving ahead.
