📅 - Hostway Services, the cloud and hosting provider, has appointed Emil Sayegh CEO and president. Robert Boles had been running the company, and will be staying on in an external advisory role to smooth the transition. Boles had been Hostway CEO since 2014.
Emil Sayegh previously had been leading Codero as the CEO, president and chairman of the board.
“I am excited and honored to be joining Hostway, and partnering both with investment firm, Littlejohn, and the Hostway team to take the company to the next level in serving its global footprint of 100,000 customers. As one of the world's largest cloud hosting and Infrastructure-as-a-Service providers and one of the most respected brands in hosting, Hostway has a tremendous future ahead of it,” Sayegh wrote in a statement.

📅 - VMware Government Cloud Business Sold to QTS - VMware recently announced an agreement with QTS Realty Trust for their government cloud business. This deal comes on the heels of VMware announcing a shift in cloud strategy. The company is majority-owned by Dell.
QTS Realty Trust is one of the largest data center providers in the United States. This acquisition means they will be able to sell services under their own brands instead of using VMware. Carpathia Hosting was acquired by QTS last year and has been providing services to government clients for VMware.

📅 - Is the Big Data Boom Over? - Is the big data era over? Many companies are beginning to wonder. Investments in big data continue to rise, but some companies are cutting back on projects. When businesses began wading through the vast amounts of data they had collected, many had very high hopes to find hidden trends, but for many, that goal has remained difficult to obtain.
A recent survey of tech executives, conducted by Gartner, showed a three percent increase in companies investments in big data, although the number of those companies that plan to invest in big data within the next two years fell from 31 to 25 percent.

📅 - StackPath Starts CDN Service - Tuesday StackPath, the security-as-a-service startup, announced the general release of its global security platform to the public, as well as launching its Secure Content Delivery Network.
StackPath's founder Lance Crosby turned up the heat on his company over the summer, developing a platform with built in security, rather than “bolted on” after completion, according to Crosby.
A recent study conducted by MergerTech showed a loss of $145 billion by United States businesses to security breaches.

📅 - .Cloud to Run Awareness Ad on CNN - To combat low public awareness of new TLDs (top-level domain), .cloud is running an ad spot on CNN. The ad will be shown in both the US and Asia as a partnership with domain giant GoDaddy.
Since the .cloud official launched in February, more than 70,000 domains have registered. .Cloud has been used by businesses of all types and sizes, in 140 countries.
The television ad invites viewers to visit GoDaddy.cloud to drive awareness and growth in adoption of the domain extension.

📅 - GoDaddy Reaches 1 Million Registrants in UK - On Thursday, the web hosting giant GoDaddy announced that it has hit a milestone for registrations in the UK – now at 1 million and growing. The .UK ccTLD is a new offering from GoDaddy and was a major turning point for the hosting company. Some of the domains under the .UK ccTLD include .co.uk, .uk, .org.uk, and .me.uk. GoDaddy believes that around one quarter of all UK domains are registered through the company, a major milestone in addition to reaching the 1 million registrant mark.
Andrew Low Ah Kee, the Executive Vice President of GoDaddy International, made the following statement about the milestone:
