Mar 24, 2009 : Virtual Web Host Boot Camp Announced
📅 - The first of its kind, virtual conference Web Host Boot Camp (webhostbootcamp.net) will kicking off June 1, 2009, providing web hosting companies, hosting resellers, web designers, and others looking to build or expand their own web hosting business online access to vendors, sponsors, virtual exhibit booths, and connect with other hosting enthusiasts through live chat.
According to Web Host Boot Camp's Tuesday announcement, there is no software to install - attendees simply log into audio sessions directly, read exhibitor information, and network - all through live chat. As well, the conference is free to attend and attendee numbers are growing fast, according to Web Host Boot Camp president and founder Zachary McClung.
"We have pulled together some of the brightest minds in the hosting industry to lead our breakout sessions and exhibits at Web Host Boot Camp," McClung said in a statement. "Establishing a virtual conference is an ideal way for web hosting companies, hosting resellers, web designers and industry vendors to all get together in one place without the expense of a traditional conference. In fact, attending is free."
Sponsors currently registered for the first annual Web Host Boot Camp virtual conference include CDGcommerce, Ping! Zine Magazine, Studio 1337, Site 5, The Hosting News, Hosting Discussion, The WHIR, and Young Copy. Sponsorships and exhibit booths are still available, according to Web Host Boot Camp, but are quickly filling.
"The only difference between Web Host Boot Camp and a physical convention is the location," said McClung. "We'll have booths, a show floor, breakout sessions, prizes, discounts, networking events; everything you would see at a physical convention -- but this one is virtual and it's free to attend."
McClung is also president of business consultancy firm McClung Consulting, based in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
