Mar 2, 2009 : Hibernia, RGTS Connects Global Banks
📅 - Submarine transport cable provider Hibernia Atlantic (hiberniaatlantic.com), and telecommunications provider Rockefeller Group Technology Services (rgts.com) announced on Monday that the companies have successfully connected RGTS' customers to other financial firms' networks over Hibernia's Global Financial Network.
The news follows Hibernia Atlantic's two previous announcements in January, which includes the company launching a service on its new route between Amsterdam and its 37 points of presence in North America.
Hibernia also announced the same month it is building a new cable network for the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Investment for Northern Ireland and the Department Communications, Energy and Natural Resources for the Republic of Ireland.
Built upon 14,913 miles of fiber optic cable, the GFN is designed to meet the significant demands of the financial market.
As a result, GFN clients can connect to one another throughout key financial cities, including New York City.
Combined with RGTS' carrier-grade Ethernet network, a New York metro network completely independent of the local exchange carriers, RGTS' customers can securely interconnect with one another within a financial community that serves global banks, investment firms and financial exchanges.
This community can use the low-latency network service, with dedicated connection options.
"By leveraging Hibernia's secure, diverse footprint with RGTS's proven New York network," says Joe Hilt, vice president of sales and marketing for Hibernia Metro, "more clients can now enjoy a secure, end-to-end solution while realizing network cost savings. RGTS customers that are looking for connections to financial markets can enjoy speed to market as Hibernia continues to guarantee turn up times in five business days on the GFN."
Rockefeller Group Technology Services provides voice, data, cabling, and Internet services and solutions to customers.
The privately held company is a subsidiary of real estate company, The Rockefeller Group.
Hibernia Atlantic provides a TransAtlantic submarine and terrestrial cable network, with over 70 redundant network points of presence throughout Canada, US, UK and Europe.
