📅 - Managed services provider eLINIA (elinia.com -> rackspace.com) announced on Friday that Wales' Local Government Data Unit (dataunitwales.gov.uk) has selected eLINIA web services to provide a disaster recovery solution.
The managed services provider has previously worked with the Wales government on other projects.
Last May, eLINIA hosted the live streaming of the proceedings from the National Assembly for Wales.
The eLINIA solution has been custom designed for the Data Unit, which is an organization wholly owned by local government in Wales.
The Data Unit's functions include collecting, processing, interpreting and disseminating statistical data on local government services and activities.
The division also acts as an effective ambassador for local authorities and other public sector bodies on statistical issues.
eLINIA will provide the Data Unit with a disaster recovery platform that will replicated its business critical data in real time and migrated to a secondary data center.
In the event that the primary data center is compromised there is an automatic fail over system to the secondary backup site within minutes, ensuring minimal disruption to the service.
