Nov 20, 2008 : DataPipe: A Top Growing NJ Firm

datapipe.com logo📅 - Global managed hosting and security services provider, DataPipe (datapipe.com) is number 15 on NJBIZ magazine's (njbiz.com) list of New Jersey's 50 fastest growing private companies based on earnings and percentage growth over the three-year period between 2005 and 2007.

According to the company's announcement, DataPipe was honored at an awards event on November 17th hosted by New Jersey business magazine NJBIZ, which will feature the company in a supplementary section to be published November 24. This is the third time DataPipe was chosen as one of New Jersey's fastest growing companies by the magazine.

"New Jersey businesses have faced increasing challenges from a tough economy," NJBIZ publisher Thomas Curtin said in a statement. "DataPipe's continued drive for excellence has allowed them to achieve a consistent yearly growth rate and profitability over the last three years, clearly demonstrating how vital they are to this state's economy."

Northern and central New Jersey has been a popular location for data centers and online services partly because of its close proximity to the New York metropolitan area the most populous metropolitan area in the US with almost 19 million citizens in the New York city area between boroughs in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Pennsylvania, according to a 2007 government estimate.

Popularly portrayed as having an inferiority complex to nearby Manhattan, IT managers have long known that New Jersey is one of the most desirable business locations. Known as the "Crossroads of the East," the coastal city is massively connected the rest of the nation via fiber-optic connections.

However, what is most significant is that DataPipe has been consistently ranking highly when compared to conventional industries in a state that has more than 15,000 factories, which can be deliver products overnight to 12 states and the District of Columbia, a consumer market of almost 60 million people. With the state's single largest industry being chemicals, information technology companies vie for their share of a competitive market along with oil refineries in northern New Jersey, pharmaceuticals, machinery, electronics and apparel.

On Wednesday, fiber-optic connectivity solutions provider AboveNet (above.net) announced it would begin offering a full suite of high-bandwidth Ethernet, IP and fiber data transport services to customers through a contract with colocation provider Switch and Data's (switchanddata.com -> equinix.com) new data center in North Bergen, New Jersey.
