Mar, 2009 : Atlantic Metro Expands Into Switch and Data
📅 - Internet exchange services provider Switch and Data (switchanddata.com -> equinix.com) announced on Tuesday that managed hosting provider Atlantic Metro Communications (atlanticmetro.net -> 365datacenters.com) has expanded its network points of presence at Switch and Data's sites in North Bergen, New Jersey and Manhattan.
In January, IP network services provider NTT America expanded across Switch and Data's colocation facilities in Atlanta, Dallas, New York, Seattle, and Palo Alto, California.
This latest expansion lets Atlantic Metro provide additional and enhanced managed colocation, managed Internet service, metro transport, IP Bandwidth, WiMAX, managed hosting and voice solutions for its web hosting, enterprise, and carrier customers.
Atlantic Metro Communications will use Switch and Data's PAIX Internet exchange to enhance Internet connectivity for its customers, peering its traffic directly between content and end-user broadband networks.
As a result, Atlantic Metro's customers will receive increased redundancy, improved performance and reduced latency.
Atlantic Metro is now offering IP transit, Ethernet transport, managed colocation and managed services from Switch and Data's New Jersey site located at 5851 Westside Avenue in North Bergen.
The company's network services are now also available in Switch and Data's 111 8th Avenue site in Manhattan.
"We are pleased that Atlantic Metro has chosen our North Bergen and 111 8th Avenue sites as efficient and cost effective places to offer its network services and house its customers' managed infrastructure deployments," says Ernie Sampera, chief marketing officer for Switch and Data. "The high network densities in these sites make them a logical place for service providers to exchange traffic and reach new customers."
Switch and Data's North Bergen site has more than 200 watts per square foot of power and cooling capacity.
At full completion, the site will be supplied with more than 20 Megawatts of power with full N+1 redundancy for its UPS, generator and cooling infrastructure.
Switch and Data has interconnected its North Bergen site to its existing 111 8th Avenue and 60 Hudson Street sites in New York, providing access to more than 300 networks.
