Aug 25, 2008 : Terremark Expands Platform to Europe
📅 - Data center operator and hosting provider Terremark Worldwide (terrmark.com) announced on Monday it has expanded deployment of its Infinistructure utility-computing platform to its facilities in Madrid and Amsterdam.
The company first deployed the Infinistructure utility-computing platform in September 2007 at the NAP of the Americas, the company's flagship data center, after acquiring the platform when it purchased web hosting provider Data Return.
In June, Terremark begin offering The Enterprise Cloud, which is powered by an enhanced version of the Infinistructure utility computing platform.
The company says there has been high demand for the platform from its current customers and prospects, leading Terremark to expand its deployment to its European facilities.
Infinistructure's enterprise-class server and storage infrastructure combines the functionality of Terremark's service-management platform with virtualization technology from partners including VMWare, Cisco, and IBM.
According to its press release, the on-demand network, storage and computing architecture enables users to "match their infrastructure to their business needs, while leveraging a fully managed solution with plug-and-play access to network connectivity from multiple carriers."
The Infinistructure platform is connected to the ESpanix exchange point in Spain and the AMS-IX exchange point in The Netherlands, which Terremark claims is the largest Internet connection point in Europe with over 400Gbps in peak traffic.
"Through our industry-leading Infinistructure utility platform, we are able to deliver world-class IT infrastructure services that are scalable to their needs," says Manuel D. Medina, chairman and CEO of Terremark Worldwide. "Based on Infinistructure's success in the United States, we anticipate that deploying the Infinistructure platform in Madrid and Amsterdam will continue to spur strong demand for our managed services from our current European customers and prospects."
