On Thursday, Denver-based Data393 announced its multi-million-dollar expansion of its 30,000-square-foot Englewood data center just south of Denver, which incorporates technology and infrastructure to reduce its environmental impact including high efficiency DC battery power systems, lower power use because of virtualization and LEED-approved cooling components.

Bought by Managed Data Holdings earlier this year, Data393 has been continuing to follow its "Green initiative" as part of Denver's "efforts to leave an enduring legacy of sustainability programs," according to the company.

However, despite its stance on the environment, Data393 remains nonpartisan about political affiliations.

"While Data393 supports the City of Denver's hosting role for the DNC, we believe environmental responsibility cuts across all political affiliations," Data393 director of data center operations Corey Needles said in a statement. "Green data centers not only save energy, they also reduce the need for expensive infrastructure upgrades to deal with increased power and cooling demands. Through the incorporation of advanced data center technologies, Data393 is becoming an industry leader in eco-friendly cooling and power optimization which allows us to keep our costs down."

The nearby Democratic convention not only is touted as the "greenest," but also the most connected, using 3,344 miles of single strands of fiber and 140 miles of single strands of copper and coaxial cable to provide communications infrastructure. The GOP National Convention boasts roughly 25 miles of cables.
