📅 - Web hosting company Digital Island (digitalisland.com) announced on Thursday that it has formed an agreement with one of the Internet's most visited Web Portals, MSN (msn.com). The company has chosen Digital Island to deliver all of its online advertisements.

Although the ads are a relatively small part of the content delivered by Microsoft, the contract will amount to more than 86o million ads each day.
Digital Island says that due to the expense of serving ads and installing and maintaining servers worldwide, MSN has selected Digital Island's Footprint Content Delivery service in order to decrease the cost and increase the performance of ads being served.
Digital Island will now deliver ads to more than 230 million unique visitors per month in 33 markets and 17 languages. The company will be delivering the ads for Hotmail.com, MSNBC.com and the MSN Instant Messenger service, among other sites.
The company says that Thursday's announcement marks an expansion of the existing relationship between Digital Island and Microsoft, with the hosting company already providing Internet infrastructure services, including content delivery, application services and on-demand streaming services.
MSN says Digital Island's network operations, reporting and content delivery capabilities, as well as engineering expertise, are what the company needs to keep up with its Web sites? demands, so MSN can continue to drive revenue and e-commerce through online advertisements. MSN also said that by outsourcing to Digital Island, it will save a significant amount of money on infrastructure and maintenance costs.
