Jun, 2001 : XSPsite.net identifies and defines over 25 xSP acronyms

📅 - XSPsite.net (xspsite.net), an online service provider resource created by ISP-Market LLC, recently announced that now offers identifications and definitions for more than 25 acronyms used by companies in the Internet services business to describe the type of service they deliver.

XSPsite says it was the first Web site to adopt, define and publicize the term xSP, adding that it continues too keep the market educated about the aggressive and ongoing segmentation of the service provider business. In addition to defining more than 25 kinds of service provider, the site provides full resources and news coverage on the seven major categories of xSP: ISP, ASP, MSP, HSP, SSP, WSP and NSP.
?This is an interesting time to be involved in the Internet services community.? Says Mike Cassidy, Managing Partner. ?The race is on to migrate as many business functions as possible to an online delivery model. The more services that pop up, the more confusing this space can get.?
Each of the acronyms defined on the site has been adopted or coined in order to distinguish one Internet-based service from the rest. But, says XSPsite, in the race to distinguish, the ability to differentiate on type of service provider from another is being lost. XSPsite even points to some acronyms being used te define multiple models. For example, CSP has at least four uses, while MSP has two.
?Through our research, consulting work and partnerships we are constantly being informed of new xSP acronyms,? says Cassidy. ?We evaluate the potential of each thoroughly and use XSP site as the channel to define those we feel will have an impact in the business world.?
