Jun, 2001 : Virtuebroadcasting to Use Inktomi Broadcasting Software
📅 - Inktomi Corp. (inktomi.com), a developer of Internet infrastructure software, and Virtuebroadcasting Ltd., a European broadband streaming provider for media and corporate communications, announced on Thursday that they have formed an agreement in which Virtuebroadcasting will deploy an integrated suite of Inktomi media technology across its broadband network.
The integration of the Internet broadcasting software is intended to help Virtuebroadcasting reliably broadcast and centrally manage live media content to consumers and business users through an architecture designed to scale as the business grows.
Virtuebroadcasting will install Inktomi's MediaBridge software, MediaBridge ServerLink and Broadcast Manager Suite software across its network in order to deliver, monitor and enhance live online programming to large scale audiences. The company's broadcasts will deliver major sports, entertainment and corporate streaming events worldwide.
?It's critical that we work with leading providers like Inktomi to ensure our network infrastructure scales as our business expands and supports new offerings,? says Paul Hodgins, CEO of Virtuebroadcasting.
Inktomi says its Internet broadcasting solution provides fault-tolerant deliver of broadband programming, while supporting all three major streaming player formats in one application. The company says that Virtuebroadcasting will work with partner Interoute to deploy Inktomi's software across Interoute's European network, putting the broadcast offering within reach of 134 million European households and 168,000 major European businesses.
