Nov, 2001 : Dialtone Provides Server Space for OsiruSoft Spam Blocker

📅 November 30, 2001 - Dialtone Internet Inc. (dialtone.com), a provider ofdedicated and co-location Web-hosting services, announced yesterday it isdonating bandwidth and memory on its servers for the OsiruSoft(osirusoft.com) Spam Stopper service to block unsolicited commercial e-mails commonly known as Spam.

To accommodate for the fast-growing use of the service worldwide, Dialtonehas agreed to donate and maintain the server space for a secondary DNSservice for the OsiruSoft blocking list, which is continuously updated. Thelist of Web sites and IP addresses that distribute Spam e-mails allows sitesand hubs to automatically block mail from domains whose IP numbers are onthe list.
"We're pleased to donate the server space to help prevent Spam e-mails thatmany people find annoying and inappropriate," said Alvaro Albarracin, CEO ofDialtone Internet. "We're serving as a responsible 'net citizen' by makingit easier for system administrators around the globe to access and use theblocking service."
Since its inception in 1998, Dialtone Internet has worked to prevent Spame-mails. It was one of the first dedicated hosting providers to implement arelaying system on its servers to prevent Spam e-mails while allowingcustomers to send and receive mail.
