📅 December 3, 2001 - Worldport Communications, Inc. (wrdp.com), a European managedservice solutions provider, announced that it is ceasing operations at itsCenter in Dublin, Ireland.

"This decision came after a review of the business activities, the currentmarket opportunities and the strategic options for the company," saysKathleen Cote, CEO of Worldport. "While we are encouraged by theopportunities we see in our market, we can not continue to operate at thecurrent expense levels. We must make a fundamental change in the businessstructure to focus our efforts on the most significant near-term marketopportunities and align expenses with a more conservative plan for growth.Market growth rates, economic and industry conditions will dictate expansionin the future."
"Over the next month we will proceed with the orderly shutdown of our Dublinoperation," she continued. "In that process we will assure that wesuccessfully transition our customers and minimize any disruption to theirbusinesses."
The Dublin Center opened in Oct. 2000. Approximately 85 employees areaffected by this decision.
