-> hostinger.com), two Web hosting companies, have merged. The new company will be called Affinity, Inc., and be headquartered in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The combined company will host more than 275,000 domains for approximately 100,000 customers worldwide. Tomas Mikaelsson, former president and COO of CyberGate, has been named CEO of the new company. Jim Collins, former CEO of Affinity, has been appointed COO.

Both CyberGate, Inc., with its ValueWeb brand, and Affinity, Inc. caterpredominantly to the fast growing small and medium size business market andfeature state-of-the-art facilities, network infrastructure, e-commerce, andturn-key Web design applications. Both companies were also recently honoredby Web Hosting Magazine as two of the top 10 Web Hosts in the world. Themerger of the companies will be seamless to customers, and is expected toproduce immediate operational and financial synergies.

CyberGate and Affinity were privately held companies prior to the merger.CyberGate, which had been owned by e.spire Communications, a public company,was recently sold to leading U.S. businessman George Schmitt. The newcompany will continue to focus on offering Web hosting services to small andmedium size businesses, including shared, dedicated, co-location, andadvanced Web hosting products.
