📅 - OptiView Technologies (optiview.com), a provider of Webcontent optimization services, announced yesterday the general availabilityof TurboCache, a Web content and image optimization product focused onreducing image bulk, caching, and accelerating all Web traffic for userpopulations.
TurboCache is a transparent caching proxy server that intelligentlyoptimizes text and images, speeding page downloads by up to 75 percentacross any connection including corporate LANs, modems, and wirelessdevices, the company said. Unlike some legacy caching appliances, TurboCacheadds content optimization to the mix by reducing the byte size of contentprior to caching, increasing server and network capacity, speeding pagedownloads for an xSP's entire audience. For the enterprise, TurboCache cancut bandwidth costs by more efficiently using the connection they alreadyhave.

TurboCache optimizes Web content without visually degrading images or text,in addition to caching traffic results to eliminate re-optimization andreduce latency. OptiView's proprietary technology balances bandwidth-savingand image quality to reach the point of optimization, said the company. Ifappropriate, the technology changes a file's format and conducts intelligentcolor palette reduction, giving preference to predominant color fields in animage - a process that typically takes less than 1/50th of a second.
TurboCache is delivered as a rack-ready unit that can be installed at anydata center, POP, or office location as an in-the-flow infrastructure ordownstream solution. TurboCache can also be used as an additive solution toother performance improvers, such as content delivery networks, additionalservers, or more bandwidth.
TurboCache pricing is done on a per-server basis, and varies perimplementation.
