📅 March 15, 2002 - Raidtec Corporation (raidtec.com), a provider of NAS andSAN storage networking, has announced the release of its 2Gb/s fibre channelhost-independent SAN storage array, FibreArray 2104.

Addressing the current growth in data storage, Raidtec has added 2 Gigabitper second FibreArray 2104 to its existing product range. FibreArray 2104delivers more than four times the performance of 1Gb Fibre Channel products,while maintaining seamless compatibility with current 1Gb/s devices.

Performance - The FibreRAID SAN Storage Controller at the heart ofthe FibreArray 2104 offers enhanced performance for mid-range to EnterpriseSANs with up to 400MB/s data transfer. Its four-channel 2Gb architectureachieves higher I/O capability and substantially greater throughput than 1Gbsolutions.Scalability - FibreArray 2104 supports up to 192 of the latest 18 to180GB dual loop Fibre Channel drives at rotational speeds up to 15,000 rpm.This makes the FibreArray storage system suitable for SANs that need tostart relatively small but can grow to meet large enterprise requirements.Fabric Switch Support - Allows scalable configurations from singleserver SAS to Enterprise SAN.Capacity - FibreArray 2104 offers scalability from 300GB to 34Terabytes per controller from a single system. Multiple systems can bestriped together to provide SAN capacity to Petabytes.Data Integrity - The RAID Off-Load Engine (ROLE) architecture ofFibreArray 2104 provides high speed memory caching, hardware assisted RAID 5Parity Generation and Cache Coherency. Configuration on Disk is includedwhere a backup of the array configuration is stored on disk for added DataIntegrity.Interoperability and Backward Compatibility - Cross testing andcertification ensures interoperability with leading storage infrastructureproviders, including host bus adapter, disk drive, hub, switch, software andserver manufacturers. FibreArray 2104 is backward compatible and canco-exist with 1Gb storage arrays and components, without performancedegradation.
Raidtec also provides a range of storage management software compatible withFibreArray 2104. FC Access provides virtualization at storage system levelwith secure SAN volume management, LUN masking, LUN sharing and SAN firewallfeature. SANfinity manages multiple FibreArray 2104 arrays from a singleconsole. SANfinity DSP allows monitoring and alert notification fromEnterprise Network Management platforms including Tivoli Netview, HPOpenview, Intel LANdesk, CA Unicenter TNG.
The FibreArray 2000 product family also includes the 2Gb FibreArray 2002JBOD, the FibreArray 2208 SAN Storage Array and the FibreRAID SAN StorageController.
FibreArray 2002 JBOD is available to order immediately. FibreArray 2104 willbe available for delivery in Q2 2002.
