Sep, 2002 : EDS Rated First in Application Management

📅 September 4, 2002 - According to a recent report by research organization IDC (idc.com), outsourced service provider EDS (eds.com) provides more ongoing development, support and maintenance of software than any other IT service provider.

IDC's study of application management defined the practice as "the ongoing support of an application or system of applications." Those applications include custom-built solutions, third-party products and combinations of the two. IDC estimates the overall market for application management at $11.1 billion, approximately $2 billion of which is generated by EDS. IDC used in-depth surveys and analysis, as well as data collected throughout the year, to determine revenue by firm.
"Applications management has been a core competency at EDS for decades," said Dan Zadorozny, president of EDS' Application Management service line. "Heavy-duty enterprise software management and maintenance is the kind of work we do extremely well and we do a lot of it. Independent validation, from a firm with IDC's credibility, of our leadership position in this important market is rewarding."
EDS's application development and management services are delivered through its Solutions Consulting business, a combination of the company's E Solutions and application services businesses formed in April 2002.
IDC identified highlights of EDS's applications management business, including the support of applications in 60 countries using standardized practices and procedures, remote support and management of enterprise resource planning packages.
