Sep, 2002 : Insight Corp Releases Web Hosting Forecast
📅 - Research organization The Insight Research Corporation (insight-corp.com) announced on Tuesday that it has released a forecast of developments in the Web hosting market, titled ?Web Hosting and Managed Services 2002-2007.?
The report, available for purchase at the company's Web site, offers insight into the state of the Web hosting industry, and offers projections for future growth in the businesses of colocation and shared and dedicated hosting.
The company says that while a few hosting companies continued to grow in 2001, most hosting and managed services firms saw their business disappearing. The acquisition of a number of tier one hosting providers, and the disappearance of a number of smaller players, had a major impact on the hosting landscape.
Excess capacity and pricing battles caused lower margins and profitability in recent months than was ever expected, says Insight, noting that the company does not expect any major changes in the hosting business during the remainder of 2002, or even 2003.
But despite the poor recent performance, the report has an optimistic outlook for the hosting industry in the next few years.
Insight says its research indicates that the total US hosting and managed services markets will grow at a compounded annual rate of 22.9 percent from $4.86 billion in 2002, to $13.62 billion in 2007.
