Jan 27, 2003 : Genesis Web Service Portal Launches

📅 - A group of management and technology experts announced on Friday that they have combined their efforts and focused their knowledge to create the Genesis forum (webservices-strategy.com), focusing on the business potential of "service oriented architecture" technologies, including Web services, business process integration and IT and data center automation.

The project's founding members involve a number of business and technology leaders, including Patricia Seybold, Novell, Cape Clear, Fuego, Blue Titam, Systinet, Infravio and Collaxa, as well as others, who will collaborate on articles and reports designed to help demonstrate how Web Services can be used to make or save money.
"Once immersed in the technology, it is relatively easy to understand the huge potential of orchestrating multiple Web services to better serve customer needs and increase profits," says Doron Sherman, CTO of Web services vendor Collaxa. "However, the key to dispelling the mistake that this is just another IT industry fad is to explain these ideas in a language that focuses more on how new business models can be created, what value they bring, and how a return on investment can be obviously achieved. The role of the forum is to address the need for content of this type, and to ensure that it passes the 'plain English' test so that all executives can easily understand the strategic importance of these new capabilities, no matter their level of IT experience."
