📅 May 29, 2003 - JCentric (jcentric.com) announced today the introduction of Linux-based virtual private server (VPS) hosting for Java developers. The JCentric VPS is powered by SWSoft's (sw-soft.com) Virtuozzo and comes preinstalled with Tomcat 4, MySQL, and a range of open source J2EE tools such as servlets, JSPs, and EJBs.

"We put together our VPS service with the needs of a Java developer in mind," said Clint Dalton, president of JCentric Corporation. "With a VPS, a developer has root access to a fully functional virtual Linux machine that has its own IP address, memory, and file system. The headache of getting a system 'just right' to run Java apps is gone with our VPS service."
JCentric VPS hosting plans are priced at $30.57 per month for a Professional account and $45.87 per month for a Business account. JCentric is offering a special of 15% off for the first six months of service in May and June.
