Oct, 2003 : Inkra Prepares to Release Virtual Service Switch 2.0

📅 - Inkra Networks (inkra.com) has announced it is preparing to release version 2.0 of Virtual Service Switch (VSS), its virtual security platform. According to testing conducted by The Tolly Group, an IT certification firm, VSS 2.0 delivers 86 percent better performance than market-leading firewall solutions, with extremely low latency. VSS 2.0 was verified by The Tolly Group to run at 20Gbps at peak throughput, showing average latency of 150 microseconds.

"Inkra fills a real need in the market today for a high-performance virtual security platform that enables organizations to implement a manageable defense in depth infrastructure," said Sanjay Dhawan, president and CEO of Inkra Networks. "With the enhanced Virtual Service Switch, customers gain the cost and complexity reduction benefits of network virtualization, and the performance needed to support critical security applications in high-demand data center environments."
According to the Fremont, California-based company, a virtual security platform provides a cost-effective way to implement defense in depth to protect all layers of the network. Inkra solutions virtualize and integrate multiple services such as firewall, VPN, intrusion detection and prevention, SSL, and load balancing, providing the same functionality as more than 100 separate network devices.
As part of its upcoming release of VSS 2.0, Inkra is introducing the Security Anomaly Index (SAI), a tool that provides a system-wide view of security threats through the tracking of current threat activity in the network and running of comparisons to historical levels.
