😞 Mediocrity
Customer service is average, everything is average, recently run into yet more 'new' restrictions on the shared hosting. Pisses me off that VPS, dedicated server prices and features are ridiculously uncompetitive and charge extra on top for what other take for granted, cPanel for example... £10 extra / month.

😁 Heart Internet - worth it for the support staff alone
Have been with Heart Internet over 4 years now and been very impressed with them.
Had a couple of issues over the 4 years but they've been really good and sorted them out fairly quickly - even at 4am!
Have used a few other hosting companies but they've not been as good and especially regards the support team.
I was concerned that they want you to put support requests through the control panel but 95% of the time they've resolved issues or at least responded within an hour.
The response is usually really good too - unlike experiences I've had with others (eg. 123reg) where you get an automated response and then a copy and paste reply. It's almost like they only have second line support and not first line canon fodder!
Only quibbles are they charge extra for paying by credit card each month instead of standing order (come on guys, sort that one out) and they are very quick to disable access to your features if you don't pay dead on time!

😠 After the second time Heart has brought my sites down it is time to change. They changed their SQL server which required customers to charge their parameter files. When I told them my Drupal sites were down they denied they'd made any changes. I was down for a week. After chasing them a number of times they finally changed my parameter file (w/o my permission) and said it was ok without any explanation. Through follow-up I found out what had really happened.
Recently they made a change requiring memory parameters to be updated or sites won't work. Again they changed my parameter file (w/o my knowledge or permission) and said "it's ok now" without any explanation. That is just so ARROGANT (Sam Howson).
Every time I think of Heart Internet and their support it makes my blood boil. I am moving all 4 of my sites from there. Without a direct debit (which my customer has cancelled) I have no way of communicating with them. They've locked me out of the support system, there is no [read more...]

😠 Heart Internet used a 'bait and switch' trick to grow their business. So they brought on board thousands of customers by promising free hosting if you registered a domain name through them. Even though the domain names were most expensive than other domain name registered, I registered them through HeartInternet because of the promise of free hosting.
Then, all of a sudden, they switched off the free hosting. I couldn't access my files. I have sent countless support tickets but their staff such as Alistair White refuse to assist. They will only allow me access to my valuable files if I buy their premium hosting service, which I can't afford. So now my site has been down for a whole month.
People should avoid these people like the plague. Heart Internet is just terrible and their support staff such as Alistair White are arrogant and rude.

😁 Its tough to research a web host with all the fake review sites and made up top 10 lists so I wanted to add a genuine review here and recommend Heart. I have my reseller hosting with them and the prices coupled with the features are spot on. It is (sadly) refreshing to find a company with no hidden costs and a clear flat monthly fee so you always know where you stand with them.

😁 We now have about 50 customer sites and 30 domain names with Heart Internet on our reseller account and have had very few problems. We're a web design company and don't want to spend any unpaid time messing around with hosting - Heart gives us few fewer problems than any other hosting company we use.
Setting up new domains and hosting accounts is simple and quick. The control panels offer lots of features for the reseller and end-client. Many requirements can be carried out by our clients on their control panel without our input. The email system offered to clients is very good, with adjustable anti-spam and nice webmail - and we've seen very few spam blocking problems, if any.

😠 Cheap webhost. The McDonalds of webhosting. Terrible and impolite customer support.
This is the only webhost I have ever come across which forces you to receive their promotional emails i.e. spams you. There is absolutely no way to stop receiving their barrage of emails, as they say there is no way of unsubscribing if you are a customer.
Avoid like the plague.

😠 Back in February 2007 I was looking around for a suitable "home" for this website, as it was getting larger than the space available on the Virgin Media server that I was using. One of the options I looked at was Heart Internet. I can't remember exactly what was being offered at the time but I decided against going with them and never used the free subscription that I signed up to. All was quiet on that front and I totally forgot about them.
Forgot about them, that is, until I received an e-mailed newsletter, on 24 October 2008, telling me about their new telecom services! It ended with the line: "This newsletter is sent as part of your Heart Internet subscription."
"OK," I thought, "I'll log in and cancell my subscription, that'll stop any more newsletters and be the end of it."
How wrong I was! I searched my emails of sign-ups (kept in a seperate folder), inbox, recovered e-mails from when the inbox played up, in fact everywhere on the PC! I couldn't find any log-in [read more...]

😁 We have been using Heart Internet for nearly 3 years now and are still very satisfied with the price/performance. As a reseller, there is no other company who give you a better deal. Their control panel is excellent, and very comprehensive - you can configure your own customers control panel to match your own brand and easily control what features they have access too.
Tech support are very quick to respond to support tickets and are always very helpful. It's just a shame that you cannot call them for support. This is the only minor grievance as when their server has problems (which is very, very rare) you cannot post tickets for support.

It tells you if they have issues, the last one, which i thought was DNS due to the sites not pinging at all, (Basically NOT THERE!) was inessance correct, the power to the datacentre was compromised, hence EVERY service to the datacentre would have been affected. Ift was resolved pretty quickly, in my opion, especially with the horrible weather.
I think they know when they have issues, and really you can't complain about the service when you look at the cost and the amount of extra utils they give you free, and the unlimited bandwidth !

😉 This is the third time in 5 months I have not been able to access my account with Heartinternet. I cannot communicate with them either. The server looks like it's down again. There are no phone numbers or customer service to contact either as all information is held on their website which I cannot access!!
How annoying, I can't even get to the home page www.heartinternet.co.uk. 'page cannot be displayed' is the only thing I can get hold of.
What's with this site? If this continues, I'll have to find another host!
